Pew Research on "Parenting in America Today"
A Pew Research study on “Parenting In America Today,” conducted September 20 – October 2, 2022, with a nationally representative sample of parents of children 18 and younger, reveals interesting details about the struggles parents and children are facing right now. Below are some insights into the study, and why we think Scouting is exactly what families need to succeed in 2023!
Top Findings from the study:
Parents are extremely or very worried about their children at some point in their life struggling with anxiety or depression (40%) or being bullied (35%). Parents say it is extremely or very important that as adults their children are financially independent (88%), have jobs/careers they enjoy (88%), or earn a college degree (41%). As adults, parents say it is very important that their children to be honest and ethical (94%), hardworking (88%), someone who helps others in need (81%), accepting of people who are different from them (80%), ambitious (65%), have similar religious beliefs as they do (35%), and have similar political beliefs as they do (16%) 62% of parents say parenting is somewhat or much harder than they expected. 64% say they do an excellent or good job parenting.
