Community

The Heart of Virginia Council is broken down into distinct Scouting communities (districts) and divisions.  Each community provides support and services for the Scouting units within its geographical area.Community - HOVC District Map

The five Scouting communities (districts) cover the following counties and cities:

Arrohattoc District includes Chesterfield County south of Powhite Parkway and Old Hundred Road, north of Happy Hill Road, and west of Interstate 95 and Amelia County.

Crater District includes the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg, the counties of Prince George< Nottoway, and Dinwiddie, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg and the part of Chesterfield County south of Happy Hill Road and east of Interstate 95.

Dogwood District includes Henrico and Hanover counties east of Interstate 95, New Kent, Charles City, King and Queen, King William, Essex, Richmond, Lancaster, Westmoreland, Northumberland, and Middlesex counties.

Huguenot Trail District includes the part of Chesterfield County north of Powhite Parkway and Old Hundred Road and Powhatan, Cumberland, Buckingham and Prince Edward Counties.

James River District serves Goochland, Western Hanover, Western Henrico, and the area within the city of Richmond.

North District serves all Scoutreach units in the City of Richmond and all districts north of the James River.

South District serves all Scoutreach units in all districts south of the James River except those in the City of Richmond.

Divisions

Exploring Division serves all Explorer Posts in the Heart of Virginia Council.

Learning for Life Division serves all school districts in the Heart of Virginia Council.

Venturing Division serves all Venture Crews in the Heart of Virginia Council.
