Conclave Work Day

Conclave Work Days

Nawakwa Lodge is the hosting the 2026 E9 Conclave at Camp T. Brady Saunders in late April and expects over 1,200 youth and adult Order of the Arrow members from across Virginia. Conclave is an annual weekend of fun, training, competition, and fellowship for OA members, and our opportunity to host only comes around every few years. The last time Nawakwa hosted was 2019.

To prepare for such a great opportunity, the Nawakwa Lodge is calling on all scouts and scouters to help get the camp ready. Volunteers do not need to be OA members. Scouts and adults from all programs (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scouts) and their non-scouting guests are welcome to register and help.
Registration is free and swag will be available for participants including an event sticker and a selection of heritage patches from the Nawakwa Museum. OA members that participate in two or more workdays will receive a unique Conclave Workday service event flap. Limited edition Conclave Workday t-shirts are also available for purchase at the Nawakwa online store.  Each workday will run from 8:00-4:00 and lunch will be provided.

Three Saturdays are available:

March 28: Campsite Preparations
April 11: Brady Saunders dining Hall
April 18: Event Midway

Over the Labor Day weekend, the RUST (Reservation Upkeep & Service Team) crew was out in full force, tackling projects across camp, and WOW, did they get a lot done! Huge thanks to Chris Carter, our newly appointed Vice President of Planning & Operations, for coordinating all the efforts.

From mowing and trimming the Cub Amphitheater and cleaning up the Cub Camp dining area, to spreading mulch at the climbing tower, trimming trees, cutting firewood, and even tidying up the OA Rings and Rock Range, the team made camp look amazing. They also removed broken tables, trimmed bushes, and made sure everything is ready for Scouts and families to enjoy.  It’s incredible what can be accomplished when dedicated volunteers come together, and we couldn’t do it without the energy, time, and heart of our RUST members.

February & March 2026
Our incredible RUST volunteers tackled an impressive list of projects, including fabricating and installing brand-new legs for the TBS dining hall benches to replace originals that have served camp for more than 20 years, replenishing firewood boxes across the reservation and at Cub Adventure Camp’s dining hall, and building a new bookshelf for the Trading Post. The team also completed major renovations to the TBS Trading Post, refinishing and painting the floors, installing durable washable walls in the snack bar, replacing the snack bar window, cleaning and refreshing the space and, most impressively, replacing the power lines running into the building. These upgrades ensure our camp facilities remain safe, welcoming, and ready for the thousands of Scouts and families who will experience adventure there this year.
January 2026
Over the weekend of January 3rd, the Reservation Upkeep & Service Team (R.U.S.T.), performed clean up around Camp T. Brady Saunders ahead of our annual Winter Camp. A team of dedicated volunteers worked to remove trees from around the Dining Hall and Myers campsite, creating loads of firewood that are now staged around camp.  We would like to thank the following individuals for taking the time out of their weekend in service to our camp:
  • Richard Brett
  • David Malloy
  • David Duke
  • David Miller
  • Chris Carter
  • Ethan Carter
  • Landon Carter
  • Pieter VanSaun
