A Fond Farewell to Brad Nesheim
Dear Friends,
For the past 13 years, it has been my distinct privilege to serve as the Scout Executive for this great Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I have been serving as a BSA Professional since March 1976, so that is 42 + years serving this great movement for young people. I wanted you to know that I am retiring from active service as a Boy Scouts of America Professional Scouter effective September 1st, and therefore, I will no longer be serving as your Scout Executive.
I want to thank you for the important volunteer work that you provide to our young people. You are giving them a priceless gift-yourself. Our youth need adults in their lives who care for them, and no words can ever thank you enough for giving of yourself and your time to instill values in young people. I thank you for supporting Scouting.
The Council’s Executive Board has selected Mr. George McGovern to become the Council’s next Scout Executive effective September 1st. George has an excellent record of service as a BSA Professional, and he will do an outstanding job.
The Boy Scouts of America has made some very important changes in recent years to allow us to serve more families with our programs of character development, citizenship training and personal fitness. So, it is an important and exciting time to be involved with this great program. I do plan to continue living in the area for the time being and remaining active as a Scouting volunteer. Please let me know if I can be of service to you.
Best wishes and great Scouting!
Brad Nesheim
