Scouts BSA Athletics Merit Badge: 5 (Group 2b)
Want to have a really fun time at a Scout Camp? Come help out at our Glow Run on Saturday! Seriously, volunteering to assist with our annual Glow Run is one of the most enjoyable volunteer experiences you can have. Zero athletic ability is required… if you can ring a cowbell, then you can do this! You can help by:
- Manning a water station on the 5K trail, pouring water into cups for thirsty runners & cheering them on.
- Serving a race marshal, steering runners in the right direction at key turns on the trail.
- Being a “straggler sweeper” by walking (or biking) the trail behind the last participant so that no one gets left in the woods.
- Helping with check-in, running the starting/finishing line, awards, or with concessions.
Adult volunteers arrive at 5:00 PM and help until 9:30 PM. Come lend a hand at one of the most enjoyable events we run at camp!
Email Rebekah.nyalko@scouting.
The Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation is open for fishing and camping! Include camping in your registration, and come out to camp early on Saturday to set up and enjoy your day doing fun things together. Lake Dillon is open year-round for water activities, including boating and fishing, and you can visit our Weekend Experiences page to learn more about other available programming, like shooting sports.
