A Scout Is Helpful… Hurricane Helene Relief Collection
Heart of Virginia Council is asking our 4,500 + Scouting families to unite this holiday season to help families in southwestern Virginia who were affected by Hurricane Helene. As we approach the winter months, the need for assistance is more urgent than ever, with many families still without access to adequate shelter, power, food and medicine. Together we can make a difference.
Please consider making a donation from the following list:
All food items are requested to be in cans unless otherwise specified. Canned items are better protected from wildlife since many of these families are still sheltering in tents.
- Canned Fish (examples: tuna, salmon)
- Canned Chicken
- Canned Pork or Ham
- Canned Ravioli, Spaghetti and Meatballs
- Canned or Dried Beans
- Over the Counter Cold Medicines
- Tents or Sleeping Bags (great opportunity for Units and families to donate any unused gear)
If you are collecting items as a Unit or are bringing a large quantity of donations, please store and drop off items in plastic bins or old hard sided coolers to further protect the items from wildlife.
