2024 World Scout Scarf Day
World Scout Scarf Day, August 1st of each year, commemorates the first Scout Camp on Brownsea Island in 1907. On World Scout Scarf Day, all active and former Scouts are encouraged to wear their scarfs, or neckerchiefs, as a visible commemoration of Scouting.
The Brownsea Island Scout Camp is located in Poole Harbor, southern England, and was organized by then Lieutenant-General Baden-Powell to test his ideas for the book, Scouting for Boys. Scouts from different backgrounds participated in camping, observation, woodcraft, chivalry, lifesaving, and patriotism events from August 1st through 8th, 1907.
Join in on the World Scout Scarf Day celebrations by wearing your favorite neckerchief and woggle on August 1st. Post your photos to social media and tag #ScoutingVA #HeartofVirginiaCouncil and #WorldScoutScarfDay. You can also leave a comment in our official Facebook post comments to be included in our photo album.
