Scouting for Food

Soon more than 10,000 Scouts and volunteers will be dropping off specially marked grocery bags to thousands of Central Virginia homes for the 24th annual “Scouting For Food” drive to benefit hungry neighbors in the region.  Scouts participate in “Scouting For Food” to fulfill their oath to “Help other people at all times.”  Scouting promotes community involvement and emphasizes youth helping others.  The Boy Scouts of America, Heart of Virginia Council aims to collect over 300,000 pounds of food during the food drive this year.  Talk about a community service project!

Bags will be left at your door on Saturday, October 29, 2011.  Please fill the bag with grocery items (no glass or perishables) and leave it on your doorstep for the Saturday, Nov. 5th pick up.

The donated food will be distributed by the Central Virginia Food Bank during the holidays to hungry families, children and homebound senior adults.
