Philmont 2012 Council Contingent
Explore the Philmont high-country on a 12-day backpacking expedition. Experience the thrill of climbing mountains over two miles high! Learn technical rock climbing, archeological excavation techniques, and blacksmithing. Relive the by-gone days of the Old West as you ride a western saddle horse, learn the ways of the mountian man, pack burros and pan for gold in a clear mountian stream. The Heart of Virginia Council Philmont contingent is scheduled for June 25th through July 10th, 2012.
The council has reserved spots for 4 crews of 12 Scouts and Adults – a total of only 48 spots council-wide! Estimated cost: $2100. Applications and a $450 deposit must be submitted to council to reserve a spot.
Sign-up for this once-in-a-lifetime experience has already begun, spots are filling up, but there are still spots available! This is an excellent way to experience Philmont as Council Contingents get first choice on trek iteneraries….
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE IN THE COUNCIL SERVICE CENTER BY OCTOBER 1, 2011 TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT.
