Den Chief Training on January 27th

den chiefInterested in being a Den Chief?  Den Chief Training will be held on Saturday, January 27th, from 9 am to 1 pm at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. Cost is $15 per person (Scout or adult). Register by clicking here.

A good Den Chief can be a great asset to any Cub Scout Leader!  A Den Chief is an older Scout who assists at den meetings, pack meetings, and other events.  Learn more about the role of a Den Chief by clicking here.

What Does a Den Chief Do?

  • attends den meetings
  • assists with activities like games and ceremonies
  • helps boys learn to be leaders
  • serves as a positive role model
  • encourages the boys to move to the next level of Scouting

What is Den Chief Training?

The Den Chief Training Conference combines fun and enjoyment with an excellent character building experience. Participants will learn leadership, organization, and most importantly, how to work with Cub Scouts. This training is for boys who are or want to be a Den Chief to a Cub Scout Den. It is also for registered adult leaders who want to learn the duties and role of Den Chiefs. We recommend youth students be a First Class Scout (or close to advancing to 1st Class). Den Chiefs need this training to be considered “trained”. Contact course Director Bill Eggleston at for more information.

What Do You Need to Bring to the Training Session?

Every Den Chief should have a copy of the current version of the Den Chief Handbook. If you do not have one, please purchase or borrow one and bring it to the training session. You will also need to bring writing materials. You may want to bring a binder or folder so that you can keep the handouts from this and other training sessions all in one place.

Prospective Den Chiefs and Den Leaders are expected to attend together!
