Troop-Based Long-Term Camping & High Adventure Trips

high adventure

Did your Boy Scout Troop plan and attend a Troop-based, Long-term Camping experience or High Adventure trip this year? If so, the Program Department wants to hear about it!

Please send an email to Mic Mullins, Program Director, at Mic.Mullins@Scouting.org by Sunday, October 15th with answers to the following 4 questions:

  1.  Where did your troop go?
  2.  What did you do?
  3.  How long was the long-term camping/high adventure experience?
  4. How many Scouts attended?

The BSA defines long-term camping as, “A camping experience consisting of five or more consecutive days and nights in the outdoors.” Troop-based long-term camping trips may include a 5+ day/night canoeing trip on the James River,  a 5+ day/night backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail, a 5+ day/night bicycle trip on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, etc.

Th camping information you provide will help your unit, district and the council properly account for the number of Scouts who participated in troop-based long-term camping and high adventure trips. Thank you for your commitment to Scouting!
