Last year The Salvation Army distributed about 6500 stockings to children enrolled in the Angel Tree program. This year Richmond area Scout Troops are invited to assist The Salvation Army by helping prepare holiday stockings at their Christmas Center on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Fifty (50) Scouts are needed for the 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM shift and fifty (50) are needed for the 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM shift. The Christmas Center is located at the old Dillard’s at Virginia Center Commons mall (VCC). Duties include unloading SmartBoxes, sorting stockings by age/sex, removing candy from stockings, placing the stockings on tables and providing a physical count of the stockings. In addition, some Scouts may be deployed to assist with other setup/warehouse tasks such as putting together bikes, sorting toys and clothes, placing Angel Tree and Silver Bells bags on the floor, etc. To participate Scoutmasters should contact Bryan Davis: 804-591-3826 or bryan_davis@uss.salvationarmy.org
